CROCHET
Needlework done by interlocking looped stitches with a hooked needle. Sounds simple doesn't it? There are very few basic stitches which make up the art of crochet. What gives crochet its depth is the ability to combine these stitches in a variety of ways to achieve many effects. This paired with the ease of changing colors allows the creator unimaginable flexibility in their art.
AFGHANS
Tunisian (also know as Afghan Stitch, Tricot Crochet, Shepherd's Knitting, Hook Knitting, Railroad Knitting). Each row is worked in two parts: the first part of the row is worked from right to left, and the second part of the row is worked from left to right; the work is never turned. This is the true afghan stitch, however, an afghan has come to be any knitted or crocheted blanket whether it is made of rows of afghan stitches or motifs joined together in a pattern.
MOTIFS
A design that consists of recurring shapes or colors. Often afghans are made of several motifs joined together. The motifs can be square, triangular, round, hexagon or almost any shape that can be joined together. The motifs usually have themes, such as flowers, that are worked in different colors and then joined together into specific patterns.
